Release of response to SSC Inquiry into the Use of External Security Consultants

Below is the Ministry of Education’s response to the State Services Commission Inquiry into the Public Sector Use of External Security Consultants.

About the inquiry

This material includes reference to a 6 month pilot that the Ministry contracted Cyclops Monitoring to run in 2014-2015 to test the effectiveness of CCTV in reducing vandalism, fire damage and theft in 5 schools.

The pilot was well-managed and controlled, and the SSC inquiry didn't find any code breaches associated with our engagement of Cyclops Monitoring. The Ministry has had no further engagement with the security consultants following the conclusion of the pilot.

Visit the State Services Commission website for more information about the inquiry.
