Curriculum, Progress and Achievement programme

The Curriculum, Progress and Achievement programme of work aims to strengthen the use of The New Zealand Curriculum and Te Marautanga o Aotearoa so that every child experiences rich opportunities to learn and progress in the important learning they are entitled to.

The Curriculum, Progress and Achievement Ministerial Advisory Group was established earlier this year. Its advice will support an education system where all ākonga (students, learners) have the opportunity to learn - to be successful in life, learning and work — and to contribute to society.

The following Cabinet paper covers decisions relating to:

  • extending the timeline of the CPA MAG to June 2019 in order to provide more time to develop its advice
  • including in its scope advice on student progress and achievement information needs across the system in relation to Years 1-10, to be provided in May 2019
  • updating the terms of reference for the Curriculum, Progress and Achievement Ministerial Advisory Group to include the extension to its term.

To support the release of Cabinet material the Ministry of Education has also proactively released reports provided to the Minister that helped inform the decisions. These are listed below.
