Secondary teachers to attend paid union meetings

We value the work our teachers and principals do and progressing their pay and working conditions in the current bargaining round is a priority for us.

As you may have seen the Ministry of Education has made an initial offer to secondary teachers.

The secondary teachers’ union, the Post Primary Teachers' Association, is now holding a series of meetings around the country to discuss the offer.

These meetings start on Monday 7 November 2018.

Teachers are entitled to attend two paid union meetings a year. Schools are required to remain open during these meetings, and the union must make arrangements to ensure the school remains open for instruction.

Any parents or guardians who are concerned about the timing of these meetings should contact their school.
