Education (Tertiary Education and Other Matters) Amendment Bill

A number of amendments in the Education (Tertiary Education and Other Matters) Amendment Bill required a Regulatory Impact Statement to be prepared.

Regulatory Impact Statements have been prepared for the following three proposals:

  • increase funding flexibility and further strengthen monitoring and compliance
  • allow wānanga to apply for ministerial consent to use protected terms in the same way that private training establishments (PTEs) can
  • remove legislative barriers to enable schools to manage international student misconduct outside school, including through the use of stand-down, suspension, exclusion and expulsion.

The Bill was introduced on 8 February 2017.
