Review of Home-based Early Childhood Education

A review of home-based early childhood education is underway, to ensure that it delivers quality education and care for children.

The review is looking at a range of areas which are known to support quality early learning, including the possible introduction of qualification requirements for educators. The review is taking place alongside the development of the Early Learning Strategic Plan, with both being closely aligned.

The Ministry has developed a discussion document that sets out a number of possible changes in home-based early childhood education.  Parents, families and whānau, home educators, early learning providers and the wider community can provide feedback on the Education Conversation website, by completing a short survey or making a detailed submission.
